7 Ways to Get the Most Out of Your Car Audio System

Hibu Websites • Sep 10, 2021

It's hard to believe that most of us are driving around with a perfectly good stereo system in our cars and not taking advantage of it. The problem is, we don't know how! It doesn't have to be complicated – these seven tips will show you how easy it can be.

1. Upgrade Your Factory Speaker

If you want to take advantage of a good stereo system, the speakers are probably the first place you'll want to start. While replacing just one speaker can make an improvement, upgrading all of them will give you far more significant and dramatic results. Replacing factory speakers means upgrading that "factory sound" to something new and better, i.e., a different tone, increased volume, fuller bass, etc.

2. Amplify Your Speakers

If you upgrade factory speakers, they will work best when used in conjunction with an amplifier. An amplifier works by boosting the low power coming from the receiver and converting it into high-powered signals. These amplified signals are then sent to the new speakers, which play them at a higher volume. This is not something that can be done on a factory stereo system.

3. Replace Your Factory Radio

If you have a factory car audio system, chances are you're not tapping into the maximum potential system. This is because most factory receivers are not designed for car audio enthusiasts. They are built to be user-friendly, which means they offer very few features or performance. That is why an aftermarket receiver will help get the most out of your sound system and any other components added on (i.e., amplifiers). Remember, full-scale stereo systems are created to reproduce the best possible sound. And that is what an aftermarket receiver will do for you.

4. Add Subwoofer(S)

Car audio systems come with underpowered subwoofers by nature – this is so every car can produce enough bass for everyone riding within its confines, no matter their taste. As a result, we are unable to hear the deep bass that is present in various songs. By adding an aftermarket subwoofer (or two), you can really make your sound system pop and allow it to match up with high-powered upgraded speakers. In fact, many people consider a good subwoofer to be the single most important part of a car audio system.

5. Add an Equalizer

Adding a digital equalizer is another amazing way to get the most out of your car stereo system. This device will allow you to customize your system's sound by adjusting such aspects as high-end, midrange, and low-end frequencies (i.e., bass). Digital EQs come with presets designed so that users can choose specific settings for different kinds of music they enjoy listening to while on the road.

6. Add a USB Port

Adding a USB port to your car stereo system is another great way to get the most out of it. This upgrade will allow you to play digital music from a USB flash drive or other storage devices. It won't just play files – it will also charge devices that have been plugged into it.

7. Add an Auxiliary Input

If you don't want to replace your factory receiver because you still like how it sounds when everything works as intended, adding an auxiliary input is one way of upgrading your system. Here, you get to keep your factory stereo system and use it in conjunction with aftermarket components (and even other speakers). This means that you can add additional bass or just enjoy your music more because the sound quality will be much better.

In 1930, the first car stereo was introduced and only played AM radio. Since then, car audio has evolved a lot to the point where you can now find components that will enhance your ride. All of these upgrades will not only make your sound system sound better, but they will also bring out its visual appeal without costing too much. If you are looking to upgrade or purchase car audio accessories and/or car sound systems in Peoria, look no further than Dezma's Car Audio.
